GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC AMBALA - ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGG.

The department offers 3 year course under regular scheme & under MPECS system leading to Diploma in Electronics & Communication Engg. awarded by Technical Education Haryana. The programme aims at providing the students with theoretical and practice base required for operation, maintenance & elementary design aspects of Electronics & Communication project work. The department has all equipment & facilities for conducting various experiments / exercise / projects as per diploma education programme. The students take part in development & fabrication of various projects and other innovative & developmental activities. The department has also got the provision for assembling of transistor radio, Receiver, IC radio receiver, tape recorder, record player, stereo Amplifier, Digital clock, Id caller etc. The Deptt. has facilities for simple design & fabrication of projects relating to Digital Electronics & Microprocessor & repair & maintenance of these. The Deptt. has facilities to perform practical & simple design of communication Engg. and microwave Engg., PCB manufacturing.
The Deptt. has also got the facility of designing PCB with Computer and undertakes the Work of Electronics Circuits design using Electronic work bench. The Deptt. shares the facilities of Electrical Machine Lab and Workshop with the institute.
Students are taken various industrial visits so as to make them aware of the activities of the World of Work. Expert lectures are also arranged by calling experts from industry relating to computer, Electronics & Communication Engg. From other organization i.e. Red Cross, I.T, Banks, entrepreneurship Deptt. employment Deptt etc. so as to make students aware of these activities and to develop an integrated personality and well adjusted individual in both society & in profession. They are taken to other training centre i.e. IDDC Ambala, RTTC Rajpura Telephone Exchange for visits & to see the equipment installed & in working position the work process. Staff is sent to training on continuous basis to upgrade knowledge. They are also trained for using modern equipment purchased under World Bank Project. Deptt. has expertise for designing of electronics circuits & fabrication & testing of these. Staff is involved in designing & revision of curriculum. The diploma holders from this department found employment in various Government, Public & Private Enterprises such as DOT, AIR, Electricity Board, Power plants, small scale & large scale industries, TV stations, railways. Students are also encouraged to become entrepreneurs.
