GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC AMBALA -- ARCHITECTURE ASSISTANTSHIP

The Deptt. of Architecture Assistantship offers a three years Diploma course with a sanctioned intake of 44 students/year under state board of Technical Education , Haryana based on semester system with the aim of imparting architectural education and training of assistants to develop overall aptitude in architecture and well adjusted both in profession and society.

Course Objectives:

Development of skills in environment oriented designs and free hand sketching, lettering and preparation of presentation, building construction details.
Development of skills in model making in various materials .
Development of knowledge and skills in site management comprising of measurement, surveying and inspection.
Development of basic knowledge and skills in preparing estimates for small residential buildings.
Development of basic knowledge regarding building materials and construction techniques .
Development of basic concept and principles of history of architecture, town planning and Building Bye laws .
Development of basic knowledge and skills in application of computers in architecture.

Facilities

To achieve the said course objectives , deptt. has been facilitated with drawing halls / studios, well equipped with drawing tables / drafting machines , computer lab,survey labs and workshops of the institution . The department has well qualified and fully trained staff.

Contributions

The staff has full potential to architecturally decorate the Indoor and outdoor spaces for cultural functions , seminars , Blood donation camps , science weeks etc. The staff has developed drawing manuals / computer slides in various subjects as instuctional media.
